About

Paphos Youth Theatre opened its doors on 18th January 2006, born from one simple idea: every child deserves the chance to shine.

When I moved to Cyprus in 2005, I was surprised to find there were no local youth theatre groups for my children to join. As a professional actress, drama teacher, and drama therapist, I knew first-hand the power of drama, to build confidence, spark creativity, and unlock potential. So, we decided to create the first English-speaking youth theatre in Paphos.

Our mission is to help young people grow, on stage and in life. Through drama, dance, and singing, we nurture skills like confidence, communication, creativity, and teamwork. We also help non-native English speakers strengthen their language skills in a fun, expressive environment.

We welcome students aged 4 to 18, with young adults joining us to prepare for drama school or university. Our structured, age-appropriate programmes include LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations and other advanced awards.

Throughout the year, every student is encouraged to take part in our exciting productions and creative projects because at Paphos Youth Theatre, everyone has a role to play.

MISSION

At Paphos Youth Theatre, our mission is to inspire and empower young people through the transformative power of drama and performance. We strive to build confidence, creativity, and communication skills in children of all ages by engaging them in a diverse range of performance-related activities including acting, dance, singing, and film work.

Through group work, role-play, characterisation, and imagination, we nurture each student’s full positive potential while promoting teamwork, empathy, and self-expression. We are proud to support students of all language backgrounds, offering those with English as a second language the opportunity to develop fluency and confidence through drama.

Our students are encouraged to take part in every aspect of production, from performing on stage to set painting and backstage work, developing both artistic and practical theatre skills. We also provide pathways for formal accreditation through LAMDA, GCSE, AS, and A-Level Drama examinations, and offer guidance in preparing audition pieces for drama school and university.

At Paphos Youth Theatre, we believe in creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every young person can discover their voice, grow their confidence, and shine.
