Paphos Youth Theatre Staff

Michelle Nonyelu is an actress, drama-therapist, teacher and director. Trained at what was the prestigious Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in the United Kingdom, she founded the Paphos Youth Theatre in 2006. As its Artistic Director, she is known for approaching her dramatic work in a therapeutic way and has worked with autistic children, children with challenging behaviour, as well as, those in the 'mainstream.' Michelle's acting credits include: extensive work with BBC, Channel 4, Thames Television, Pebble Mill, Humphrey Barclays Production and Unified Entertainment Productions.  She directed Silver Thespian Theatre Company's production of '74' in Cyprus and has  played a variety of leading roles from Cleopatra to Lady Macbeth in many Repertory Theatres both at home and abroad.

Theatre Director

Lise Constantinou Briggs is a local artist and teacher of art. She joined the youth theatre in 2008 as a teacher of  design and is instrumental in initiating stage and set designs for all youth theatre productions. Lise also has a keen interest and background in drama, having studied it at a young age. This interest has developed over the years and Lise's role, has extended to incorporate coaching students on how to apply dramatic technique for roles played both in productions and examinations.

Acting Coach

Eleni Petrou is a Greek-Cypriot dancer, dance teacher and choreorapher, born in Cyprus in 1985. Eleni obtained her BA in Dance (majoring in Performance and Education) from the University of Nicosia graduating in 2012 with cum Laude. Many years of experience in the field of performing arts  in music, dance and drama, have enabled her to apply and develop her many interests in a variety of performance and educational projects. Eleni has experience, not just as a performer or choreographer, but also as a stage production assistant, scenery and prop crafting, composing sound score, editing music, sound engineering, stage managing and event coordinating. She now enjoys teaching hip hop, modern dance and PortDeBras fitness as well as piano and vocal coaching, choreographing and developing various performance based projects. Her latest projects include working on the Pafos 2017 Opening Ceremony performance as a professional dancer under the leading Israeli choreographer Ido Tadmor (Jan2017) and stage managing the production of Johnny by Ra'anana Dance Theatre in the Suzanne Dellal Theatre in Tel Aviv, Israel (Dec2017).

Dance & Music Director

Veronika Rosa Junkova was born in Czech Republic in 1991. From a very young age she showed interest in the performing arts, however, it was around the age of 10 she started focusing more on dance (ballet and modern jazz) and music (piano and singing). She also took on drama around the age of 14. Once she finished high school, Veronika continued on the path of performing arts and obtained her BA in Dance Performance from the University of Nicosia, graduating with Summa cum Laude. After finishing her studies she taught musical theatre, contemporary dance and ballet in several private schools in Nicosia. Once Veronika returned to Paphos, she starred in a local musical production of Disney's Frozen. Now she teaches ballet, modern jazz and contemporary dance to the children of the youth theatre in preparation for productions and at the same time participates in various performance projects as a teacher, dancer, singer, choreographer and actress.
